Stock photography.

A very good and inexpensive alternative to hiring a professional photographer are stock photo houses. Since 2000 the online stock photography industry has grown exponentially. Here’s a list of a few that we use and a quick review of their service. You can click on the logos to be linked directly to their sites.

View My Portfolio iStockphoto.com is a great resource. They have a credit system which is good for people who only need a small quanity of photos. Photos cost between $1 - $10 typically, depending on the resolution. They also have illustration, flash, and video. Their selection is deep and of very good quality. They do have a maximum replication limit in their contract so read it carefully.

Royalty-Free Photos By Subscription With a Photos.com professional royalty-free stock photography subscription you pay one fee and download what you need from their collection of more than 325,000 professional quality stock photographs and photo objects, up to 250 photos per day. Their quality is good however they have a relatively low replication maximum. Read their contract carefully.

Clipart.com Like Photos.com, Clipart.com has a subscription based service. They specialize in clip art but also offer some photos and illustrations. Their subscription rate is very low.
